At present, in the system design stage, the standard system modelling language (such as SysML, Modelica, etc.) is commonly used to carry out model-based system design, simulation, analysis and verification, and the model management mode is manifested as file-based management such as xmi, mo, etc. This mode has the following shortcomings:

1. Most of the system modelling environment is single-computer version, lacking the support of parallel collaborative environment, and it is difficult to support multi-professional collaborative design;
2. The system model data are scattered on personal computers, lack of unified management, and difficult to share and reuse;
3. The system model data has object-oriented and other structured characteristics, which makes the traditional file-based PDM/SDM/SCM system unable to meet the needs of collaborative design and management of system model data.
